ASSEMBLY HALL We have an open assembly hall surrounded with valuable medicinal plants. In the midst of the Hall there is a Saraswathi Statue the goddess of Education, who showers Her blessings upon the students and team of members. Also there is a fountain around the statue which spreads cool breeze to keep the campus cool and healthy.
DRINKING WATER There is a Reverse Osmosis Water Plant functioning in our school premises. We supply well treated and purified water to our children.
CLASSROOMS We have well spacious and ventilated classrooms with a dimension 19" x 25". The classrooms are furnished with wooden benches and desk. All classrooms have dust free blackboard, fans and tube lights. Students are very much comfortable with their seating arrangements.
LABORATORIES We have individual Labs for Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany and Computer Science. All labs are fully equipped with all the requirements to cater the needs of the students.
AUDIO VISUAL ROOM We have an Audio Visual Room for handling classes and seminars for our students. This room has a DLP with perfect sound system and permanent white board for projection and handling seminars. This room can accommodate 120 members at a time.
LIBRARY "Happy is the man who acquires the habit of reading when he is young"
Our school encourages the reading habit among students by allocating a library period in their regular time table. We have a well maintained computerized library with a collection of 5000 books and CD Roms. The world books and encyclopedia are the valuable treasure of our library. To promote the attitude of extensive reading among students weekly and monthly magazines, sports journals and newspapers are procured.
AUDITORIUM Our school has a very good infrastructure with big auditorium that can accommodate 1000 students at a time. This is a multipurpose auditorium which is utilized for conducting various Government examinations, Higher officials meeting at District and State Level.

COMPUTER LAB We have a well equipped Computer Lab the brain child of our Trustee and Chairman, Thiru. R.Vairavan, which has been constructed within 1200 square feet. This lab was inaugurated by Thiru. E.M. Sudharshan Nachiappan, Honourable Member of Parliament, Sivagangai Constituency. Criteria for Admission
Admission will be made as per regulations established by the State Govt. of Tamil Nadu
A student seeking admission into any class should produce a valid Transfer Certificate (T.C) from the previous school as well as the Corporation Birth Certificate and Community Certificate.
Admissions for Classes IX to XI will be made only on production of Transfer Certificate attested by the Education Officer and Mark sheets from recognized schools.
Students of CBSE pattern, Anglo Indian pattern, Tamil Nadu General Pattern and other Patterns should get their T.C. countersigned by the Educational Officer of the system.
It also applies for students going from here to other schools and states.
Students who are to be admitted in the middle of the year have to pay the tuition fees along with the Special Fees from June onwards.
Application for admission must be made in the prescribed form which can be obtained from the school office on payment of Rs.100/- in person or can be downloaded (an addition of Rs100/- has to be remitted along with fees).
Students are expected to attend school on all working days from Monday to Saturday.
The student should be present in the school at 8.30 AM every school day to attend the General Assembly and depart after school hours.
If a student is absent from school due to illness or other unavoidable reasons a leave letter has to be sent to the class teacher duly signed by the parent / guardian. If such absence exceeds three days the leave letter must be addressed to the Principal accompanied by a medical certificate.
In case of repeated absence or prolonged absence (exceeding 10 days) without any leave letter, the student's name will be removed from the rolls.
Unit tests will be conducted every Month for each subject. Mid-Term tests, Quarterly, Half yearly and Annual Examinations will be conducted for all classes.
After each of the above examinations, except the Annual Examination and Unit tests, the progress cards will be issued to the parents on open days mentioned in the calendar, notifying the marks obtained by the student and also with the remarks of the class teacher and the Principal about the students' general attainments, aptitude, behavior and the fields of improvement.
The progress cards should be returned to the school within three days of issue, signed by the parent or guardian, failing which a fine of Rs. 5/- per day will be collected.
Students with 90% of attendance alone will be allowed to appear for the Public Examination in Std X and XII and Students with less than 85% attendance will not be promoted to other classes but for valid reasons.
Progress cards spoilt or lost must be replaced by a fresh one on.
School Rules & Regulations
- Pupils must be in school by 9.00 AM to attend assembly every morning. Late comers will not be permitted to attend school.
- No pupil shall be absent without prior permission except during unforeseen circumstances. In such a case application for leave shall be sent to the class teacher so as to reach the office not later than 10.00 AM on the day of absence.
- Application of leave of absence shall be made on behalf of the people by the parent or guardian and addressed to the class teacher for the period not exceeding 3 days and to the Principal for a longer period.
- Pupils applying for sick leave are required to produce medical certificate.
- Every pupil shall attend school for not less than 85% of the working days in the academic year.
- White uniform should be worn by all pupils on every Monday and any other day specified.
- All notebooks and textbooks must be neatly covered and labeled throughout the year and school calendar must be brought to the school everyday.
- Periodical progress report must be collected by the parents or guardians to apprise them of the pupils conduct and work at school.
- When a call goes to the parent from the school or SMS is sent to the parent in connection with the students conduct at school the parents should make it a point to respond to it in the interest of the child.

It gives me an immense pleasure, in meeting you all through this media. I extend a very warm greetings, to the Parents of our school, who with great hopes have admitted their wards in our school.
I strongly believe, that changes can be caused only through an education, which is the most powerful weapon. We aim not only to impart knowledge to the students, but also to inculcate in them the good habits like humanity, intelligence and kindness.
Education should develop one’s individual’s critical thinking and analytical skills. According to Martin Luther King, Jr education is not just a preparation for life but it is life itself which leads to freedom. It is the duty of an every educator to develop a passion for learning, among the students which leads in action. It is also the moral responsibility of an educators, to teach the students how to fish, which helps them to lead their lives independently instead of giving a fish to eat for a day. Mere imparting knowledge to the children without teaching them moral values will make them a menace to society.
It is also a prime duty of a school in imparting moral qualities and social responsibilities to the students. We have a regular schedule of school assembly which comprises of news reading, discourses by students themselves on various topics, Kural recital, mass drill and mass Bhajans etc.
These days education is associated only with an act of making money. Everyone tries to educate themselves, hoping that they would be able to make money based on the education they get. So education has become purely commercial. This trend should change and the education must aim at making ideal citizens for the country in addition to making them competent to work. On a whole, over all attitude of an education should change for better in near future, else this world will be a chaotic place to live in.
We offer a wide-ranging educational program which is supported by a system of instruction that is experiential and encourages the children to be consistent, important and methodical in thought and in application.

After the promotion of Mrs. Anandhi Thyagarajan as the Chief Administrative Officer of Alagappa Group of Schools, Karaikudi, Mr. Kumaran Ganesan took over as the Principal of Alagappa Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Karaikudi

About the Principal
Mr. Kumaran Ganesan, young, energetic and dynamic person assumed the charge as a Principal. He possesses a sound academic record with a good leadership qualities. He has got a rich experience in the field of an education and can adapt to any type of situation.
He believes that speaking English well, knowing to calculate, alone does not make a complete learning. Real Education helps any one to lead complete life being inevitable part of an ideal society.

He is an English Graduate from the Madura College, Madurai. He completed his Post Graduation and M Phil in English, B.Ed, in Specialized English, from the Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai.

About the Trust
Dr. Alagappa Chettiar Educational Trust is the Governing body of the Alagappa Group of Schools at Karaikudi. The Trust was started by the great Philanthropist of South India Dr.RM.Alagappa Chettiar. The intention of starting this Trust is to educate all the children who are residing in and around Karaikudi. The Trust is headed by the able leadership of Dr.(Mrs.) Umayal Ramanathan, the Secretary and Correspondent, who is the daughter of the founder Vallal Dr. RM. Alagappa Chettiar. It is a great honor to me to serve The DR. ALAGAPPA GROUP in the capacity of Principal Alagappa Matriculation Higher Secondary School Karaikudi.
The foundation to the education system in Karaikudi and in other places as envisaged by Dr Alagappaiah needs to be strengthened and to be grown with modern systems, sincere and dedicated team of teachers, administrators and support staff.
